Rock Tavern Chapter: Grandpa Joe’s Washboard Band

The Rock Tavern Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Grandpa Joe’s Washboard Band.

Grampa Joe’s Washboard Band was formed in 2017. The band is made up of Grampa Joe Cardella on vocals and washboard, Vince Sauter on vocals and stand-up fretless bass, and Wayne Chadwell on vocals and 6-string high-strung banjo.
All three members have played in bands and as individuals since they were teenagers and all three play other instruments and have other musical interests as well.
The style of music is difficult to describe so they simply call it “New Orleans style jazz, blues, string band, jug band, washboard band music”. The music choices are intended to offer something entirely different from mainstream and are intended to offer surprises and humor.
