Open Mic via Zoom: Jerry Korobow
December 23, 2023 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm
For Jerry Korobow, throughout over five decades and many professions — social worker, school music teacher, actor, restaurant/bar manager, attorney, and synagogue cantor — music has been the constant. Folk, Blues, bluegrass, Celtic, country, chanteys, show tunes, children’s music, cantorial music and opera have all been part of an ongoing musical journey. Still a working attorney and cantor at Temple Beth Sholom of Flushing, New York, Jerry’s goal is always to engage others and encourage participation, whether singing with children, a congregation, or a concert audience. In August of 2022, Jerry played the Philadelphia Folk Festival after a hiatus of some fifty years. He was the subject of a feature article in the December 7, 2008 New York Times, “The Cantor Carries A Six String”.

OPEN MIC
Music starts at 7:30, but if you arrive at 7:00 you can spend some time catching up with friends, helping each other sound check, and just generally enjoying the mellow Folk Guild vibe.
Ethan Campbell will be the Zoom maestro, so if you’re a musician and you’re planning to perform, let Ethan know as soon as you come in from the Waiting Room. He’ll get you into the next available slot. Everybody gets two songs or eight (8) minutes, whichever comes first.
