Open Mic via Zoom: Gary Kromirs

Gary‘s been playing in bands for over 50 years. In the ‘80s he played the clubs in NYC including CBGBs, Pyramid, Limelight, Trude Heller’s, the Lone Star, the Bitter End, and SNAFU. He has performed at college events at the University of Vermont, University of Maine, Brooklyn College, and SUNY New Paltz. His band was one of eight bands chosen to play at the 1st Annual New York New Rock Day at Lincoln Center. Locally he’s played with his band DogHouse as well as the Ronnie Bait Band.

Gary was in the pit band of the Phoenicia Playhouse where he played in their productions of Little Shop of Horrors, The Last Five Years, Oklahoma!, The Wedding Singer and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He also wrote, recorded and performed his original score for the Playhouse’s rendition of Stop Kiss. Now performing regularly in the singer-songwriter genre, Gary has rearranged much of the music he wrote for a full rock band so that it can be performed on solo acoustic guitar. His repertoire encompasses his original songs as well as an eclectic list of cover tunes.
