SUMMARY:New Paltz Chapter: Songs in the Round
DESCRIPTION:The New Paltz Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild welcomes you to our\n2025-2026 Coffeehouse Series\non Saturday\, January 24\, 2026\n\nWe will be featuring\nSongs in the Round\nwith Kathy Mark\, CB Smith and Deb Martin.\n  \nDeborah Martin\, a local singer-songwriter has been playing out and about for 20+ years. She performs as \na solo artist\, but thru the years has joined the stage with a variety of musicians\, most notably as a part of \nthe trio MartinTullyKlein. Known for her rich voice\, playful attitude and smooth delivery\, Deborah loves to \nsing a good song\, and she likes to write them as well. Her compositions explore socio-political issues\, \nlove (of course) lives of women\, and family. With one CD under her belt\, she’s just interested in \nencouraging people to listen\, think and smile. \n— \nC.B. Smith is a veteran singer-songwriter based in New York’s Hudson Valley. From 2010-2022 he led the \nAmericana band C.B. Smith & the Lucky Devils. C.B. is currently a solo artist and educator\, offering his \nfour-hour Transformative Songcraft Workshop at venues including Caffè Lena and the Old Town School of \nFolk Music\, where the director of education said “C.B. is focused\, dedicated and passionate about \nimparting skills and techniques related to songwriting.” \n“C.B. Smith’s songs ring true. There’s no higher compliment as far as I am concerned.” – Mary Gauthier\, \nGrammy-nominated singer-songwriter\, author of Saved by a Song. \nWebsite \nwww.cbsmithmusic.com \nInstagram \nhttps://www.instagram.com/cbsmithmusic/ \nFacebook business page link \nhttps://www.facebook.com/CBSmith518/ \n— \nKathy Mark \nThere hasn’t been a time when music wasn’t a part of singer/songwriter Kathy Mark’s life. As \nPolish heritage would dictate\, her first musical instrument was an accordion\, which weighed \nalmost as much as she did! By age 13\, Kathy was borrowing guitars from friends who had lost \ninterest in their own music lessons and was teaching herself guitar basics. Kathy is a long time \nstudent of international finger-style guitar champion\, Helen Avakian. \nAn amateur luthier for 25 years\, Kathy is now focusing on “polishing” her music and “building” \na rapport with musicians\, and music lovers. \n] \n\nOPEN MIC\n \nOpen mic performances will be available for all.\nSignup begins at 6:30pm and open mic begins at 7:00pm.\nThe featured performance is expected to begin at approximately 8:00. \nCost of admission for this event is $7 ($6 for Folk Guild members and seniors)\nQuestions?
