DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild welcomes you to our\n2024-2025 Coffeehouse Series\non Saturday\, February 1\, 2025\nat the Unitarian Fellowship\, 320 Sawkill Rd.\, Kingston.\n\nOur featured performer is Neil Okeson.\nNeil Okeson is a singer-songwriter living in the Hudson Valley\, performing original songs to audiences that weave together humor\, joy\, and the occasional political jab. Long associated with the Hudson Valley Folk Guild\, he views songwriting as a living process\, and a conversation with many. \nNeil enjoys hiking the trails from the river to the ridge\, and exploring the wilderness of the imagination\, hunting for metaphors. \nHe was a voice major in music school; guitar\, piano\, and ukulele are some of the tools of his storytelling shows. \nHis first CD “Beautiful World” was released in 2015\, and he is currently producing the next one\, to be completed this year. \n\n  \n\n\nOPEN MIC\n \nOpen mic performances will be available for all.\nSignup begins at 6:30pm and open mic begins at 7:00pm.\nThe featured performance is expected to begin at approximately 8:00. \nCost of admission for this event is $7 ($6 for Folk Guild members and seniors) \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

His first song came a few years later. After some time of playing music with friends\, he started going to the Folk Guild Coffeehouse in Patterson back in the 1900s.\nBrian soon played his first open mics there and at the Good News Coffeehouse run by Don Lombardi. Realizing that no one was seriously injured after his first open-mics\, Brian continued playing and writing songs. DESCRIPTION:Don and Maureen Black began taking guitar lessons with Helen Avakian in September of 2008. They first played together in public in January 2013\, under the name “Never Too Late”. Since then they have played together in a variety of local venues\, most notably in the “Teachers” – themed John Street Jam\, and in a Lou Reed tribute in Nyack.  They are active in the Hudson Valley Folk Guild and play regularly at the High Falls Café and at Richard’s Rhinecliff Acoustic Show at Morton Library.  They enjoy playing humorous songs and\, most especially\, songs written by local artists. \n\n \n\nConnect via Zoom:\nTopic: HVFG 4th Saturday Open Mic via Zoom \n  \nFor the Zoom link\, please signup for our email newsletters\, or contact Ethan Campbell at ethan.1247@gmail.com. \n\n  \nOPEN MIC\nMusic starts at 7:00\, but if you arrive at 6:30 you can spend some time catching up with friends\, helping each other sound check\, and just generally enjoying the mellow Folk Guild vibe. \nEthan Campbell will be the Zoom maestro\, so if you’re a musician and you’re planning to perform\, let Ethan know as soon as you come in from the Waiting Room.  He’ll get you into the next available slot.  Everybody gets two songs or eight (8) minutes\, whichever comes first.
