DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild will host our monthly coffeehouse open mic\nSaturday\, April 1\, 2023\nat the Unitarian Fellowship\, 320 Sawkill Rd.\, Kingston.\n\nOur featured performers are Don and Maureen Black.\n\nDon and Maureen Black began taking guitar lessons with Helen Avakian in September of 2008. They first played together in public in January 2013 under the name “Never Too Late”. Since then they have played together in a variety of local venues\, most notably in the “Teachers”-themed John Street Jam\, in a Lou Reed tribute in Nyack.  They play regularly at the Hudson Valley Folk Guild\, the Hyde Park Library\, the High Falls Café\, and at Richard’s Rhinecliff Acoustic Show at Morton Library.  They enjoy playing humorous songs and\, most especially\, songs written by local artists. \nDon and Maureen currently host the Rock Tavern chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild on the second Saturday of every month from September to June. \n\n\nOPEN MIC\n \nOpen mic performances will be available for all.\nSignup begins at 7 and open mic begins at 7:30.\nThe featured performance is expected to begin at approximately 8:30. \nCost of admission for this event is $7 ($6 for Folk Guild members and seniors) \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild\nwill host our monthly coffeehouse open mic this coming\nSaturday\, April 15\, 2023\nat the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Poughkeepsie\, N.Y.\n  \nThis month we are proud to be featuring Don Lombardi\, Jim Pospisil and Vince Sauter.\n  \n\nDon Lombardi is a long-time performing member of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild. He is widely regarded as an excellent songwriter who brings a big heart to all his musical  expressions. His Poughkeepsie appearance is a “comeback” performance after being away from the stage for a while. \nJim Pospisil is a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose songs are marked by well crafted\, sometimes quirky lyrics and themes from the personal to the profound. A mix of folk\, blues\, rock and more\, his performances on guitar\, mandolin\, flute and harmonica are superb and energetic. \n\nVince Sauter writes and performs songs that can be soft\, subtle and make you think! He will be playing the stand-up fretless bass in this ensemble. Vince’s performances always feature fresh and creative arrangements. Vince (as is Don)\, is an excellent luthier and instrument maker. \nAll three members have played in bands and as individuals. SUMMARY:Open Mic via Zoom: Andy Jones
DESCRIPTION:Andy Jones is a singer/songwriter inspired by an eclectic mix of ’60s San Francisco rock\, Brazilian music\, folk\, soul and jazz. His original songs are known for their rhythmic feel and life-affirming themes. He enjoys performing solo in intimate settings and on ZOOM\, as well as performing live with his band Circus of Wolves. \nAndy’s past musical credits include recording and performing with songstress Maria Muldaur\, opening twice for SF legends Jefferson Starship\, and supporting Professor Louie & The Crowmatix at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York City. With Circus of Wolves\, Andy has performed at the two most recent Rosendale Street Festivals.
