DESCRIPTION:The Rock Tavern Chapter  of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Piedmont Blūz in our monthly Open Mic on Saturday\, January 9\, 2021 at 7:30pm.\n———— \nThe Piedmont Blūz Acoustic Duo are ambassadors of Country Blues music and the Piedmont style of fingerpicking\, and their mission is to help preserve these rural\, east coast traditions by educating audiences about this unique aspect of African American culture through musical entertainment. The husband and wife duo are much loved wherever they go. They feel that “there are stories to tell\, people to remember\, and things that must be said” so\, in addition to tickling your ears with delightful music\, they weave a bit of history into the presentation of each song. \nInducted into the NY Blues Hall of Fame in 2018\, the duo has been featured in numerous festivals including the Newport Folk Festival\, Chicago Blues Festival\, Tel Aviv Blues Festival\, Clearwater Revival\, and Brooklyn Folk Festival to name a few. SUMMARY:Rock Tavern Chapter: Grandpa Joe’s Washboard Band
DESCRIPTION:The Rock Tavern Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Grandpa Joe’s Washboard Band.\n~~~~~\n\nGrampa Joe’s Washboard Band was formed in 2017. The band is made up of Grampa Joe Cardella on vocals and washboard\, Vince Sauter on vocals and stand-up fretless bass\, and Wayne Chadwell on vocals and 6-string high-strung banjo. \n\n\nAll three members have played in bands and as individuals since they were teenagers and all three play other instruments and have other musical interests as well.\n\nThe style of music is difficult to describe so they simply call it “New Orleans style jazz\, blues\, string band\, jug band\, washboard band music”. The music choices are intended to offer something entirely different from mainstream and are intended to offer surprises and humor.\n\nYou can find Grampa Joe’s Washboard Band on YouTube.\n\n\n\n~~~~~\nOpen mic performances will be available to all. She has attended SummerSongs and Cedar Run songwriting camps\, as well as several singer/ songwriter workshops. Her latest CD release is called\, “I Love to See You Smile\,” a collection of family-oriented educational stories and songs that span the seasons. \nAn advocate for special education\, Janie recorded an Autism awareness EP\, “In His Eyes / Living with Autism\,”.
