She has been writing songs since the age of 17\, having landed a music publishing deal with Burt Bachrach’s publishing company at age 19.  More recently\,  Sharon got to share the stage and play with  John Sebastian\, Steve Miller\, Larry Campbell\, Happy Traum\, Jorma Kaukonen at the Woodstock Luthier Showcase. In recent years\, Sharon  mentored with Richard Thompson\, Dar Williams\, Mary Gauthier in Nashville and most recently Joe Crookston\, who called her “an amazing songwriter”.  She  teaches songwriting at Bard College’s Lifelong Learning Institute and is currently recording her forthcoming album entitled “Roots and Rants”. Both Harry and Stuart were born on “Days Of Infamy”. Harry was born on December 7th. Stuart was born a few years later on September 11th. DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild welcomes you to our\n2024-2025 Coffeehouse Series\non Saturday\, March 1\, 2025\nat Stepping Stone\, 320 Sawkill Rd.\, Kingston.\n\nOur featured performer is Louise Adams.\n  \nLouise Adams is a singer/ songwriter from Plymouth\, Massachusetts. Playing guitar and singing has been a part of her since a young age.  After graduating college\, one of the best parts of living in NYC was attending the Guitar Study Center after work in midtown Manhattan. Work\, and family then took center stage but she eventually returned to playing and singing in local NJ bands before moving to Massachusetts in 2017.\nSongwriting also came later in life\, after a suggestion from a booking agent that she write a few songs to appear at a local venue. She released her first album\, Come Dance with me in 2023 with Whole Music Records. The song\, Come Dance with Me won a Silver Medal in the Global Music awards\, and the following year\, both songs\, “Wish You Had” and “All the Time In the World” also received Silvers in the Global Music Awards.\nShe loves all kinds of music\, and is grateful for her kids to keep introducing her to current artists. However\, her inspirations keep bringing her back to acoustic artists such as Cosy Sheridan\, Patty Griffin\, Jeff Daniels\, and Cheryl Wheeler.\nWhen not working on original music\, Louise plays throughout the south shore of Massachusetts  in the band\, Tupelo Honey.\, and also with Jim Schulze as the Louise Adams Acoustic Duo.\n\n\nThe Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Catskills has been sold to Stepping Stone\, a multimedia production company\, event space and creative wellness center. DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild welcomes you to our\n2024-2025 Coffeehouse Series\non Saturday\, December 7\, 2024\nat the Unitarian Fellowship\, 320 Sawkill Rd.\, Kingston.\n\nOur featured performer is Sharon Klein.\n\n  \nSharon Klein\, who is an accomplished fingerstyle guitar player and singer songwriter is a favorite on the Hudson Valley folk and Americana music scene.  She is one third of the group MartinTullyKlein who have been together for seven years\, and make their way around the Hudson Valley music circuit each year\, playing such venues as the Rosendale Street Festival and Walkway Over the Hudson.    Sharon has been writing songs since the age of 17\, having landed a music publishing deal with Burt Bachrach’s publishing company at age 19.  More recently\,  as music coordinator for the Woodstock Invitational Luthier showcase for 11 years\,  Sharon got to share the stage and play with some of the most iconic names in the music world such as John Sebastian\, Steve Miller\, Larry Campbell\, Happy Traum\, Jorma Kaukonen and many others.   She has traveled and toured in over 40 countries with her guitar and songs.   Sharon has opened shows for Mary Travers\, Dar Williams\, David Broza and others.   We are thrilled to have Sharon perform some new and familiar original songs as our featured artists at the Hudson Valley Folk Guild.\n\n\nOPEN MIC\n \nOpen mic performances will be available for all.\nSignup begins at 6:30pm and open mic begins at 7:00pm.\nThe featured performance is expected to begin at approximately 8:00. \nCost of admission for this event is $7 ($6 for Folk Guild members and seniors) \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

She is a member of the Ukulele Catskill group and UUukes.  As she explains\, one of the beautiful aspects of the ukulele is that you can play it at the same skill level you had 10 years ago because most ukulele players are in it for the ease\, fun\, and community. Playing the ukulele also\, fortunately or unfortunately (depending on your viewpoint)\, leads to acquiring a kazoo\, and to writing quirky songs. That’s just the way it goes. \nIn addition to her music\, Jerelynn’s artistic endeavors include photography\, painting rescued furniture\, mixed media collage\, and creating cards. During the past two summers\, she has hosted a stop on the Saugerties Artists Tour. Their mission is to help bring awareness to these unique aspects of African-American culture\, and to the contributions of early blues artists\, through performing and teaching. The husband-and-wife duo are much loved wherever they go. They feel that “there are stories to tell\, people to remember\, and things that must be said” so\, in addition to tickling your ears with delightful music\, they weave a bit of history into the presentation of each song. \nInducted into the NY Blues Hall of Fame in 2018\, these tradition bearers have been featured in numerous festivals including the Newport Folk Festival\, Chicago Blues Festival\, Tel Aviv Blues Festival\, Clearwater Revival\, and Brooklyn Folk Festival to name a few. DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild welcomes you to our\n2023-2024 Coffeehouse Series\non Saturday\, Sept 2\, 2023\nat the Unitarian Fellowship\, 320 Sawkill Rd.\, Kingston.\n\nOur featured performer is Storm King Skyline.\n\n  \nKevin & Carol Becker\, Rich Keyes\, Ken & Linda Sheehan  \nStart with deep roots in traditional folk music\, add musical versatility\, mix in both historical and contemporary themes\, all seasoned with a healthy dose of good-natured humor\, then enjoy a performance by Storm King Skyline. \nA newly formed musical group\, Storm King Skyline has developed a unique sound that combines breathtaking vocals\, instrumental dexterity\, and a synergy that comes only from an intimate knowledge of each other’s talents.  That sound starts with Kevin’s intricate finger picked guitar\, augmented by his impeccable harmonica playing.  Carol’s soaring vocals – clear\, bright\, and pure\, stand out when singing solo and form compelling harmonies with Kevin and Ken’s baritone voices.  Ken adds the skillful touch of a virtuoso on guitar and Linda adds some light percussion.  The entire sound is anchored by Rich’s solid rhythms on upright bass and his driving bluegrass-influenced banjo.  They feature other instruments as well\, notably mountain dulcimer\, recorder\, bodhran\, and Appalachian limber horse.  Their repertoire ranges from historical ballads to songs of social significance and from traditional folk songs to the original songs of the band members.  Storm King Skyline has an easy manner and relaxed stage presence which encourages audience participation and contributes to their entertaining performances. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOPEN MIC\n \nOpen mic performances will be available for all.\nSignup begins at 7pm and open mic begins at 7:30pm.\nThe featured performance is expected to begin at approximately 8:30. \nCost of admission for this event is $7 ($6 for Folk Guild members and seniors) \n\n\n\n\n\n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The Kingston Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild will host our monthly coffeehouse open mic\nSaturday\, April 1\, 2023\nat the Unitarian Fellowship\, 320 Sawkill Rd.\, Kingston.\n\nOur featured performers are Don and Maureen Black.\n\nDon and Maureen Black began taking guitar lessons with Helen Avakian in September of 2008. They first played together in public in January 2013 under the name “Never Too Late”. She has attended SummerSongs and Cedar Run songwriting camps\, as well as several singer/ songwriter workshops. Her latest CD release is called\,  “I Love to See You Smile\,” a collection of family-oriented educational stories and songs that span the seasons.  \nAn  advocate for special education\, Janie recorded an Autism awareness EP\, “In His Eyes / Living with Autism\,”.
