SUMMARY:Open Mic via Zoom: Ed Caskey
DESCRIPTION:Ed Caskey is a hobby musician-singer-songwriter in Rochester New York. His songwriting began one afternoon in 1970 when he learned two guitar chords. Since then\, Ed has brought guitar\, keyboards\, bass\, harmonica\, voice and songwriting to a number of mostly undiscovered rock\, pop\, blues\, folk and church bands\, recording projects and basement-bound jam sessions. \nFor the last decade\, Ed has been the left half of the acoustic duo Silver Standard\, performing “unique acoustic cover arrangements” and the occasional original song around Rochester. \nIn order to pursue music and songwriting full-time\, he quit his day job (retired) a few years ago\, and has been burnishing his craft by attending Dar Williams’ Writing a Song That Matters songwriting retreats\, and any Zoom songwriting circles/open mics that hosts will let him join. \nEd’s “folky blues” songs are influenced by his early years in the waning steel/coal/dairy farming belt of western Pennsylvania\, and by all the stuff that happens in life when you survive that. \nEd is a member of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild and Rochester’s Golden Link Folk Singing Society. \nhttps://www.youtube.com/@edwincaskey4292 \n  \n\n \n\nConnect via Zoom:\nTopic: HVFG 4th Saturday Open Mic via Zoom \n  \nFor the Zoom link\, please signup for our email newsletters\, or contact Ethan Campbell at ethan.1247@gmail.com. \n\n  \nOPEN MIC\nMusic starts at 7:00\, but if you arrive at 6:45 you can spend some time catching up with friends\, helping each other sound check\, and just generally enjoying the mellow Folk Guild vibe. \nEthan Campbell will be the Zoom maestro\, so if you’re a musician and you’re planning to perform\, let Ethan know as soon as you come in from the Waiting Room.  He’ll get you into the next available slot.  Everybody gets two songs or eight (8) minutes\, whichever comes first.
