Rock Tavern Chapter: Dave Kearney
The Rock Tavern Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Dave Kearney.
Perhaps the reason that Dave Kearney’s songs are so powerful is that he has actually lived them. His heartfelt performances elicit nods of recognition, tears, and a line of people coming up to him after the show to tell him which song moved them the most. Sometimes it’s the one about a wounding father/daughter relationship, or the tragedy of addiction, or a shattering love triangle, or a sacred experience of the natural world. Sure he has had influences. But that is not enough. And obviously he has studied his craft well. But it is the crucible of his life experiences that makes Kearney a commanding artist.
Open mic performances will be available to all.
Cost of admission for this event is $7 ($6 for Folk Guild members and seniors). Signup begins at 6:30pm and open mic begins at 7:00. The featured performance is expected to begin at approximately 8:00.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Rock Tavern is located in the Town of New Windsor at 9 Vance Road, Rock Tavern, NY, off Route 207, 3.4 miles west of Rte 300; or take I-84 to Exit 5A, Rte 747 south to Rte 207, make a right and take the second left.
