Poughkeepsie Chapter: Vince Fisher

May 21, 2022 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Vince Fisher

The Poughkeepsie Chapter  of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild is pleased to be featuring Vince Fisher in our monthly Open Mic on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at  7:30pm.

Vince Fisher started playing guitar while in college in the mid-sixties. He started learning folk songs by the likes of Tom Paxton, Tom Rush and the Kingston Trio, among others. He played at parties and in his classroom.
After his retirement from teaching in 2002, Vince started writing more and building his repertoire with the goal of playing in public. He has since been playing in pubs and taverns as well as fairs and festivals up and down the Hudson Valley. Vince has played with Tom Kiernan in the Irish duo of FisherKiernan, having released a CD of original music, mostly about Ireland, titled “Blood & Green”. He has also played in a band called The Fabulous Hackers. At the age of 75, Vince wants to entertain for as long as he is able. He continues to write and learn new songs to cover with the help of his iPad, which seems as old as he is.
