Poughkeepsie Chapter: Maggie Rothwell

Singer/songwriter and guitarist, Maggie Rothwell, is thrilled to be performing virtually for the Poughkeepsie Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild!
Maggie was originally from Pleasantville, NY in Westchester County but now lives in Red Hook, NY in the Hudson Valley. She earned her Bachelor’s of Music Education degree with a concentration in voice from Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam. Maggie is a former elementary school music teacher who became a musician for therapeutic recreation departments in local nursing homes.

She’s grateful for the technology that allows her to continue to bring music to residents virtually during the pandemic. Maggie also runs a weekly open mic (now virtual) and, before the pandemic, enjoyed performing at various restaurants and farmers markets.

With a repertoire of over 900 cover songs and numerous originals, Maggie has eclectic taste in music and enjoys performing a wide variety of styles. She’s happiest when she has a guitar in her hands and is singing songs that her audience can relate to and sing along with!
Maggie is happily married with 2 grown children who are often the inspiration for her original songs.
