New Paltz Chapter: Songs in the Round

The New Paltz Chapter of the Hudson Valley Folk Guild welcomes you to our
2025-2026 Coffeehouse Series
on Saturday, January 24, 2026
We will be featuring
Songs in the Round
with Kathy Mark, CB Smith and Deb Martin.
Deborah Martin, a local singer-songwriter has been playing out and about for 20+ years. She performs as
a solo artist, but thru the years has joined the stage with a variety of musicians, most notably as a part of
the trio MartinTullyKlein. Known for her rich voice, playful attitude and smooth delivery, Deborah loves to
sing a good song, and she likes to write them as well. Her compositions explore socio-political issues,
love (of course) lives of women, and family. With one CD under her belt, she’s just interested in
encouraging people to listen, think and smile.

C.B. Smith is a veteran singer-songwriter based in New York’s Hudson Valley. From 2010-2022 he led the
Americana band C.B. Smith & the Lucky Devils. C.B. is currently a solo artist and educator, offering his
four-hour Transformative Songcraft Workshop at venues including Caffè Lena and the Old Town School of
Folk Music, where the director of education said “C.B. is focused, dedicated and passionate about
imparting skills and techniques related to songwriting.”
“C.B. Smith’s songs ring true. There’s no higher compliment as far as I am concerned.” – Mary Gauthier,
Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, author of Saved by a Song.

Kathy Mark
There hasn’t been a time when music wasn’t a part of singer/songwriter Kathy Mark’s life. As
Polish heritage would dictate, her first musical instrument was an accordion, which weighed
almost as much as she did! By age 13, Kathy was borrowing guitars from friends who had lost
interest in their own music lessons and was teaching herself guitar basics. Kathy is a long time
student of international finger-style guitar champion, Helen Avakian.
An amateur luthier for 25 years, Kathy is now focusing on “polishing” her music and “building”
a rapport with musicians, and music lovers.
