The Kingston Chapter holds a coffeehouse on the first Saturday evening of each month except July and August. It is held at the meetinghouse of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Kingston, Sawkill Road, Kingston, NY. The coffeehouse consists of an open mic and a feature performer. It starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 10:15 p.m. Doors open at 6:30, Open Mic sign-up at 7 p.m. Admission is $6 ($5 for Folk Guild members).Folk Guild membership is $10 per year and members are also entitled to discounts at Folk Guild events in Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park and Kingston. Glen will be joined by his talented friends, Judy Kass and Amy Soucy. The trio combines their voices to lift up causes of social justice, unity, and the connectedness of all things. California born Glen Roethel is one-of-a-kind artist, gifted vocalist, dazzlingly musical acoustic guitarist. New York based Judy Kass, quickly draws in her audience with soulful vocals, no-nonsense lyrical storytelling and genre-bending exploration of guitar and piano. Amy Soucy is a Beacon, NY-based contemporary folk chanteuse who writes evocative songs exploring the kaleidoscope of human experience (dreams, longing, forgiveness and healing) and sings them in a voice that’s been called "powerful," "comforting," and "angelic."
The Kingston chapter holds its open stage events at the UU in Kingston on Sawkill Dr. From exit 19 off the thruway take the Washington Avenue exit off the ramp at the circle. At the first traffic light take a left onto Sawkill and the UU is on your right a couple miles.
